The Sunset Club was founded in 1913 as a private women’s club when the signers of the Articles of Incorporation established the Club “to ensure the social and intellectual welfare of its membership.” The Georgian style Clubhouse designed by Josef Cote’ was completed in 1915 and was one of the first in the West planned specifically to house a women’s club. The Club is conveniently located in the semi-residential neighborhood of First Hill in downtown Seattle . It is adjacent to the business district and within walking distance of major shopping, restaurants, galleries, museums, art venues and medical centers.
As the current history of the Club reminds us, " The Sunset Club is still a respite...where women can be graciously served and entertained, educated and informed, surrounded by friends and family members encompassing two, three or even more generations."
